All P1 Teachers Will Receive the TSC Starting Salary.
Teachers for all secondary and primary schools, including P1 instructors, are hired nationwide by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Starting pay for P1 instructors falls under job group B5 and is Ksh 21,197.
Additionally, depending on where the school is located, the commission may provide these teachers different allowances. When compared to instructors in rural regions, P1 teachers who work in municipalities typically receive larger home and commuter allowances.
According to TSC data, nearly 30,000 P1 teachers in job group B5 are looking forward to salary increases because they believe they have been passed over for promotions for a long time.
Primary school teachers, most of whom are P1 teachers, make up job group B5, which has six different pay tiers. The basic wage varies across levels, but commuter and housing benefits are the same at each.
A hardship allowance is available to instructors who work in these locations, amounting to Ksh. 6,600 per month for B5 teachers.
Teachers who have physical limitations earn more money than their peers in the same grade do, and they also get a monthly guide allowance of Ksh 20,000.
The instructors’ company has recently shown a lot of support for these teachers. TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia recognized that teachers had long been underpaid during her presentation before the Parliamentary committee on budget allocation.
Furthermore, it was promised that the pay slips for these teachers will change after a review of their salary.
