Education PS Belio Kipsang has urged applicants taking the KCPE and KPSEA exams this year to work hard and not giving in to peer pressure.

During the official exam opening ceremony in Nakuru, Kipsang gave a motivational speech to the students, encouraging them to strive for their highest potential.

He reminded them that whatever score they receive at the conclusion of the day will be celebrated, so they should resist the pressure from other sources to achieve as high as 400 marks.

“I promise that everything will work out. I want you to realize that you know what’s best for you. The best of you is within you, so don’t let anyone put pressure on you. We will applaud you for whatever you give us, Kipsang stated.

The PS said, “We are not asking you to receive 400 or 350 marks; rather, we are asking you to give us your best, whatever that best may be. Combined, when every student gives us their best, we as a school will receive the best.”

He remarked that they had a bright future ahead of them and that everyone was praying for them as they prepared for their examinations. He emphasized the importance of giving everything they had to whatever they were doing.

Kipsang remarked, “We know you can run faster than us, so in the future, our country will be safe in your hands.”

This year’s exams, which are scheduled to run from October 30 to November 24 with the KCPE and KPSEA ending on November 1, will see over 3.5 million candidates take the test.

When the final cohort takes the Kenya Certificate for Primary Education Examinations (KCPE) after 38 years, the exams will finally come to an end.

Beginning on Monday, 1,415, 315 candidates will take the final KCPE as the nearly four-decade-old 8-4-4 system is phased away.

The Competency-Based Curriculum, which features a 2-6-6-3 structure, is taking the place of the 8-4-4 curriculum in the ministry.

The government has established the system as the most reliable means of providing students with the necessary skills.

The exam-based, competitive 8-4-4 system placed a great deal of pressure on students to do well.

President William Ruto has encouraged the students to put up their best effort.

As the students entered the examination rooms, the President gave them a word of encouragement, advising them to maintain their confidence.

“I wish every candidate taking the exam today the very best of luck and success in it. Know that you are not alone in the test room, so go in with confidence and give it your all,” Ruto stated on Monday.

Belio Kipsang told the contestants, “We will celebrate you no matter what.”
