Kenya’s Teachers Service Commission is a government institution in Kenya that is responsible for :
Official process of hiring teachers and assigning them to any public school, as well as
Official Promotion of teachers
Official transfer, discipline,
official termination of their employment.
Inorder for one to be employed by TSC, he/she must meet teaching qualifications required.
Legibility of one to teach in secondary schools,he/she must be a diploma and bachelor of education graduate and must have a mean grade of C+ or better in KCSE.
One must also have a C+ in two teaching subjects as per to the new TSC requirements for teacher recruitment. Those who are interested PTE applicants, they must have a C-plain or higher and a PTE certificate from KNEC.
Also the minimum average grade for visually and hearing-impaired people is a C-minus.
Those who wish to join teaching profession and have C in the KCSE qualify as primary school teacher but not a secondary school teacher.
Now all the Secondary school teachers must have a minimum KCSE grade of C+, as well as a C+ in each of their two academic subjects.
In addition, the minimum academic and professional qualifications for teacher registration and recruitment are a bachelor’s degree in education with two (2) teaching subjects or a bachelor’s degree in science or arts with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in two teaching subjects.
Persons who have acquired a Diploma in Education or gone through the A level system in the pertinent field, as well as Bachelor of Education undergraduates with a mean grade of C Plain and C Plain in the two teaching topics at KCSE, are qualified (s).
Again the bridging or pre-university diploma will be awarded to those who finish the course.
In the above circumstance, all the applicants must have a C+ (plus) grade in two teaching areas, or one (1) Principle and two (2) Subsidiaries at the “A” level, or its equivalent, to be considered for the Diploma.
A teaching certificate from a recognized teacher education college is also a requirement.
Those Diploma Teachers who graduated from college in 2008 or before with a mean grade of C (plain) in two teaching subject areas are competent.
Special students who are deaf or blind and must have gotten a C.
