Raila Odinga, the Azimio Presidential candidate, prevailed in three of the six constituencies, according to results confirmed and released by the IEBC on Friday morning.

The former prime minister easily defeated William Ruto, the deputy president, in the Lamu East, Kathiani, and Kangundo Constituencies.

In contrast, Odinga lost to the DP in the Webuye East Baringo Central and Ol Jororok Constituencies.
With 104,517 votes so far counted from the six constituencies, the UDA presidential candidate is currently leading the race to succeed retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta. Odinga is in second place with 99,672 votes.

In Webuye, Ruto obtained 16, 412 votes, while Odinga obtained 13, 720.

In Baringo Central, Ruto is in the lead with 33,162 votes to Raila’s 1,656. David Mwaure of Agano and George Wajackoyah of the Roots Party each received 26 and 62 votes.

Additionally, the DP is in the lead against Raila in Ol Jororok (Nyandarua County) with 31,982 votes, while Raila is far behind with 7,579 votes.

The ODM leader defeated Ruto in the Kathiani constituency of Machakos County with 30,984 votes to Ruto’s 6,624.

The fifth-time presidential candidate also took lead in Kangundo, Machakos County with 29,808 votes against Ruto’s 8405 votes.

Raila defeated Ruto in the Lamu East Constituency with 9564 votes, while Ruto received 4639.

While releasing the results, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati warned political parties conducting parallel tallying to desist from any attempts to declare themselves winners.

“We allowed candidates to do their own tallying and their tallying is for their own consumption. The candidates should not attempt to declare themselves,” Chebukati said.
