Confirmed, TSC To Employ 116000 teachers more to help address teacher shortage gap

The deputy president William Ruto’s Kenya kwanza alliance on Today rolled out its education plan after being elected as the 5th president of Kenya.
In the plan, teachers employed by teachers service commission are set to rip big if Kenya kwanza Government carries the day.

According to the plan, Ruto plans to do away with the contentious delocalization which has been receiving a lot of resistance from teachers. According to teachers unions, the delocalization exercise was unfriendly to teachers as it contributed to family breakups.

Secondly, Rutos government will fund the controversial teacher performance development (TPD) program which aims at empowering teachers with new skills throughout theirs careers.
According to TSC, teachers are supposed to fund the exercise at a cost of KSH 6000 per year in selected universities.

And finally, Ruto promised to address teacher shortage that is currently bedeviling the education sector.
If elected, his government will hire 116000 teachers in two years to address the biting shortage.

The DP’s plan closely mirrors that of azimio coalition party leader Raila Odinga who promised to hire over 100000 teachers.
