Due to student agitation, Kisumu Girls has been shuttered indefinitely.
Students were sent home after Kisumu Girls High School was shuttered indefinitely.
The issue, according to the instructor who requested anonymity, began last night when school officials forbade pupils from holding a musical performance in the schoolyard.
The teacher remarked, “Last night, the school management rejected this suggestion. Students were very pleased to play music for amusement.
According to reports, students got out of control last night, with some hanging out in fields and refusing to go to sleep.
When kids made noise and caused disturbances in the school on Sunday, the situation deteriorated. The source further stated that in order to reduce the mounting tension in the school, the officials sent pupils home after discussions.
There were rumors that several pupils had expressed their dissatisfaction with the school’s living conditions.
According to reports, several pupils have called for the resignation of the present principal and other school officials.
Nelson Sifuna, the director of education for the Nyanza region, disclosed that students had also raised concerns about corporal punishment. He said that school officials are looking into some of these complaints. “The situation got worse yesterday when officials of the national government and the Ministry of Education tried to resolve the issue with them in the dining room, but they were very angry,” he continued.
According to Sifuna, the pupils were given writing assignments when they declined to publicly voice their concerns.
The Ministry of Education and Training and school administrators have not yet released a formal comment on this subject.
