Eight schools near the Kisumu-Kericho border opened in advance of exams.
Kenya’s Kisumu, October 27 Eight schools along the Kisumu-Kericho border that were closed have reopened by the government in order to get ready for the national exams.
The schools were impacted by the recent border skirmishes, according to Nyanza Regional Commissioner (RC) Flora Mworoa, but they have already opened their doors to the candidates.
To make sure that examinations are held in a comfortable setting, Mworoa stated that more security will be added to the people who were stationed in the area during the height of the infighting.
He continued, “I want to reassure you that all those schools are now open, and that security officers stationed there are still here and will be reinforced.”
Schools will begin writing the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) on Monday.
The RC issued a strong warning to anyone preparing to sell pupils phony exam papers, saying that the long arm of the law would catch up with them and guaranteed sufficient protection in the area.
Mworoa stated that the Ministry of Education has implemented an additional feature where morning and afternoon exam papers would be selected independently in an effort to tighten the examination procedure.
Exam papers were formerly selected for the entire day from the examinations container, however this is currently not the case.
“This measure aims to guarantee that the examination is conducted in an optimal manner, free from any irregularities,” the speaker stated.
There will be two security personnel stationed at each of the 4,933 KPSEA and KCPE examination centers in the region.
There are 1,761 KCSE centers, and each center has a same number of security officers deployed in it.
Spot checks at the majority of Kisumu’s schools showed that as candidates prepared for their national exams, KPSEA and KCPE rehearsals went smoothly.
The primary school 8-4-4 system of instruction will come to an end with the exams.
George Polo, the head teacher at Xaverian Primary School, reported that all of the applicants were shown to the supervisors and invigilators.
“As a school, we’re excited to reach the goal we set at the start of the year,” he stated.
There are 268 candidates for KCPE and 298 candidates for KPSEA seated at the institution.
Joan Ochome, the school manager at Golden Elites School, which is located within the Tom Mboya estate, stated that the school is ready to discontinue the 8-4-4 system in a God-centered manner.
According to Ochome, the students are optimistic about achieving outstanding results because the school has been taking national exams for the past 20 years.
“The government has sent nine officers to help with invigilation and supervisions, and we have over 200 candidates for the two examinations,” the official stated.
She said that the KPSEA is the greatest assessment ever, pointing out that it takes each student into account.
