First Time HELB Loan Application Procedure & Requirements,2022/2023
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) will soon launch the application for undergraduate first-time loans for the academic year 2021/22.
All the KUCCPS students, as well as those attending public and private colleges as self-sponsored students, are eligible to apply for the funds, which significantly reduce tuition costs for them and parents.
All the Kenyan students enrolled at a licensed university recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE) in Kenya or the East African Community are eligible for a HELB loan.

Key documents Required for HElB loan application;
- Have Valid applicant national ID card
- Have KRA pin
- Have Copy of parents ID cards/Death certificate(if deceased)
- Have Bank account details(account No)
- Have Functional Email address
- Have Working mobile phone number
- Have a Copy of ID cards of three people who will act as guarantors(*Remembers its a loan)
- All academic details(primary and secondary)
The application procedure is outlined below.
✓To access the student portal, go to the HELB website at http://www.helb.co.keusing a browser like Chrome.
✓Register, create, and activate your account on the students portal (strictly use applicants phone number)
✓Navigate to the loan application tab on the portal, click it, and pick “2021/2022 undergraduate first-time application.”
✓Fill in the following portions with exact information without skipping any steps;- (Education background, University admitted, Parents data ,Family expenses, guarantors and bank details.)
