HOW MANG’U SCHOOL PRODUCED

HOW MANG’U SCHOOL PRODUCED THE BEST STUDENT.

HOW MANG’U SCHOOL PRODUCED

By Sam VIDAMBU.

If you can not fail you can not learn, if you can not learn you can not grow, if you can not grow you can not be happy, and if you can not be happy then what is left of you? Mang’u school is one of the best national schools in Kenya. In 2021, Mang’u has a mean of 10.26 in KCSE and also produced the best student. For me, even though KNEC doesn’t rank schools, as per 2021 KCSE, Mang’u was the best performing school. I’m saying so because if you compare the number of candidates at Mang’u and the other schools which got over 10.26, Mang’u had the highest candidature.

Infact, Mang’u had as more number of candidates as 100 than the other schools which might have had better results. Mang’u had 500 candidates. You can only learn from the best. And Mang’u is the best. Mang’u knows what they want. They set very specific goal and devise specific mechanisms to achieve it. They always want Kenya One. They want As, All As, nothing but the As.

Mang’u has mastered the art of taking advantage of numbers. They understand that more numbers of form fours translates to more number of As and higher percentage of university transition. Mang’u understands that results is expensive and failure is cheap.

LEARNING MATERIALS ALL ACADEMIC LEVELS

They use all kinds of resources to ensure the students prepare adequately for KCSE. Students at Mang’u don’t think about KCPE but they focus on KCSE. They forgot about entry behaviour and concentrate on exit behaviour. Mang’u understands that a school is culture. Once a student joins form one they are deeply immersed into the whole fabric of success and greatness.

HOW MANG’U SCHOOL PRODUCED

They know expectations are so high but also ability is so available. Students at Mang’u are cool, calm and collected. I happened to get the privilege of being the class mentor of form fours who did KCSE in 2021. Talking to over 500 form fours, you would expect most to make noise and alot of movement.

In Mang’u, that is not the case. Whenever I finished a talk, I would be followed by over twenty students who would come to ask bright questions. One would ask, ‘Mr Vidambu, what is the future of employment in East and Central Africa.?’

Another would ask, ‘What is the effect of Corona virus pandemic on fields like data engineering, robotics and nuclear physics.?’ Mang’u understands that a school is defined by results, then numbers, then infrastructure, in that order. Mwai Kibaki Amphitheatre and Capt Ronald Karuri Dining Hall were built a few years ago.

HOW MANG’U SCHOOL PRODUCED

They were built to accommodate the numbers which came as a result of performance. The school gate of Mang’u looks quite simple but the results are not simpler compared to some schools with multimillion shilling gates. Mang’u understands that results is mindset, skillset and philosophy.

The academic foundations of Mangu are strong, the academic systems of Mang’u are solid and the academic cultures of Mang’u are fashionable. Mang’u doesn’t do well because of entry behaviour. Mang’u does well because of the mindset of the students, the skillset of the teachers and the philosophy of the school. Getting a mean of 10.26 with 500 candidates and over 109 getting straight As is not a walk in the park. Mang’u did it. You can learn from Mang’u. (The Author Is A Close Associate Of Mang’u School).
