Instructions to Teachers Prior to the KCPE and KCSE Exams from KNEC

Instructions to Teachers Prior to the KCPE and KCSE Exams from KNEC.

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) released guidelines for teachers and candidates before the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, as well as the first Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

Teachers need to advise students not to fall for fraudsters who distribute fake exam materials under KNEC instructions.

Creating plans to prevent cheating on exams was another responsibility assigned to the teachers.

“None of those images being circulated are genuine examination papers. I challenge anyone to present an examination paper before the exam date,” KNEC stated.

There will be one supervisor overseeing at least 200 candidates. The 20 candidates will be managed by the invigilators who will be hired.

Headteachers will serve as center managers, while supervisors and invigilators will be drawn from other schools.

According to KNEC, the practice would only involve certified teachers.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) would send out more than 250,000 teachers to assist KNEC in carrying out its purpose in an efficient manner. Nancy Macharia, the chief executive of TSC, gave the sub-county executive directors instructions to interview the teachers who will be in charge of the activity.

“You are required to identify, nominate and vet centre managers, supervisors and invigilators,” Macharia stated.

Multiple-choice questions will be present on both the KCPE and KPSEA exams. Additionally, the exam papers will contain unique elements and can only be opened once the exercise starts.

In conjunction with the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams for Standard 8 candidates, Grade 6 students will take the first-ever Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

Candidates for the KCPE and KPSEA will practice on Friday, November 25, and take their assessments from Monday, November 28, to Wednesday, November 30.

A month later, on Friday, December 2, to Wednesday, December 23, the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations will start.

The first national exams to be conducted under President William Ruto’s administration will be overseen by new Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.
