A number of teachers will receive salary increases this month of July from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

Those teachers who are employed permanently and are eligible for pensions will get pay raises from the Commission. Teachers on contracts and interns are not included in this.

Also  note that the TSC and the teachers’ unions Knut, Kuppet, and Kusnet have not reached a consensus to review the CBA 2021–2025 and incorporate teacher compensation improvements.

If there are to be any adjustments to the salary component of the CBA, TSC and Knut have already made it plain that they won’t take effect until after the general elections of 2022. Additionally, the agreed-upon pay adjustments can only take effect following the July 2023 budget.

This  category of teachers who will receive compensation increases is listed below.

School administrators who fall into one of the six job groupings on the Commission’s list will receive a salary increase with back pay in July.

These instructors are reportedly eligible for wage raises since, in accordance with the CBA 2017–2021 rules, they have not yet hit their maximum salary points, or “bar.”

According to TSC, the grades C4, C5, D1, D2, D3, and D4 still have not reached the maximum salary points allowed by the CBA 2017–2021 salary banding.

Starting on July 1st, 2020, TSC said it will increase the wage points for these grades.

From the time the teachers reached the maximum wage point until January 2022, the Commission will pay them their compensation increase in arrears.

When funds become available in July 2022, the arrears will be processed.

The elongation wage scale points for grades C4, C5, D1, and D4 are points three through seven, according to the table above.

The extended wage scale points for grades D2 and D3 range from point two to point seven. This month, the arrears will be paid.

However, according to TSC, teachers in grades B5, C1, C2, C3, and D5 are ineligible for compensation raises under the conditions of the CBA 2017–2021.

According to TSC, the instructors’ salaries cannot increase because they have already reached their maximum salary points.

“By the end of the cycle for CBA 2017 – 2021,” it was stated, “Grades B5, C1, C2, C3, and D5 have reached the maximum salary points permitted for in the banding.”
