Education Principal Secretary, Belio Kipsang has changed the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam release date,

According to Kipsang, the exams would be released before the end of November to allow the goverment process the placement of  the candidates to  secondary schools before Christmas.

Speaking after visiting Naivasha Girls Secondary School Kipsang noted that marking for KCPE had kicked off with the results expected out in a couple of weeks to allow parents time to prepare..

“We expect the results out early so that placement of students in form one can be done before Christmas so that parents have ample time to prepare,” he said.

Addressing concerns about KCSE exam malpractices, Kipsang downplayed the issue, revealing that only seven center managers had been suspended.

He attributed the decrease in exam malpractice to the practice of collecting exam papers twice a day, coupled with support from the Ministries of Interior and ICT.

“We noticed that there was exposure of the exam materials when collected once and hence the directive to collect them twice in a day,” he said.

Kipsang clarified that the seven suspended center managers would face disciplinary measures later in the year, once the exams concluded.

“We have over 11,000 center managers and only seven have been suspended for malpractices meaning that our exams are very credible,” he said.

The KCPE and KPSEA exams commenced on October 30, 2023, and concluded on November 1, 2023.

A total of 1,415,315 candidates participated in the KCPE  while 1,282,574 candidates took the KPSEA assessments.

The KCPE exam marked the conclusion of a 38-year era since its inception, signifying a pivotal moment as the country transitions to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

Form 4 candidates are currently engrossed in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national exams.

The KCSE exam commenced on October 23 and is scheduled to conclude on November 24.
