Teachers are enthusiastic about applying for OCS positions in schools.
In the recently established Office of Career Services (OCS) in schools, teachers from all across the country have shown a keen interest in applying for employment.
In a circular dated August 16, 2023, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) declared its plan to provide training to educators in charge of providing career assistance in their particular schools.
All educational levels, including universities, national polytechnics, technical vocational schools, and basic and secondary institutions, will adopt the Office of Career Services (OCS).
Teachers are enthusiastic about applying for OCS positions in schools
Many TSC County Directors have already followed a TSC directive instructing them to help school principals set up an Office of Career Services (OCS) at their schools and choose a teacher to oversee OCS operations.
The statement reads, “The State Department for Labour and Skills Development has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing skills development across various sectors, establishing and managing the institutional framework for connecting industry skills development and training, as per Executive Order No. 1 of 2021.”
In order to decrease skill gaps, improve school-to-work transitions, increase employability, promote labor mobility, and reintegrate disadvantaged and at-risk groups into the fields of education and the labor market, the Department is dedicated to encouraging career advising.
According to the Commission, schools are required to appoint a teacher to oversee the Office of Career Services. The TSC will next hold training sessions in each county for the teachers who will be filling OCS duties in schools.
