Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/  TSC Boss, is in charge of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC). Dr. Nancy Njeri Macharia, who is currently in her second term as TSC Boss, is in charge at the moment.

The Deputy Commission Secretary is second in command. The Deputy Commission Secretary is above the Directors in many categories.

THESE ARE KEY ROLES PERFORMED BY THE TSC SECRETARY

With the guidance of the Commission, the Secretary performs the following duties which include:

  1. To execute the decisions of the Commission.
  2. To be the head of the Secretariat.
  3. To Facilitate, coordinate and ensure execution of the Commission’s mandate.
  4. Advise the Commission on teacher projections to facilitate staffing of learning institutions.
  5. To advise and make recommendations to the Commission on optimum utilization of available teachers.
  6. To make recommendations to the Commission on appointment and deployment to administrative posts in educational institutions.
  7. To ensure maintenance of the register of teachers and be custodian of all records of the Commission.
  8. To be the Accounting officer of the Commission and ensure proper and diligent implementation of Part IV of the TSC Act and any other written law.
  9. To ensure staff compliance with the constitution and other laws.
  10. To be responsible for administration and management of the secretariat resources.
  11. To Promote professionalism in the teaching service.
  12. To advise the Commission on suitability of persons entering the teaching service
