TSC CEO Nancy Macharia’s term is coming to an end soon.
To compel Dr. Nancy Macharia, CEO of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), to quit, an activist has launched a lawsuit.
According to activist Francis Owino, Dr. Macharia’s tenure as CEO ended in February 2023 because of his advanced age.
Owino is requesting that the court rule that Dr. Nancy Macharia’s ongoing leadership of the TSC is unlawful because she has surpassed retirement age in the lawsuit that was submitted before High Court Justice Lawrence Mugambi.
The initial tenure of Dr. Macharia was supposed to expire in February of this year.
According to the activist, Dr. Macharia’s contract as the commission’s CEO was extended in July 2020 for a further five years. She took over for Gabriel Lengoibon in 2015 after being selected in a competitive process.
Owino stated that Dr. Macharia’s mandate should have ended in February 2023 in accordance with his petition and that any extension made after that time would be unlawful.
In this case, he also brought up the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the employers of instructors.
Owino noted that all requests for tenure extensions for civil officials over 60 years of age were canceled on February 16 of this year by Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa of the Ministry of Public, Gender, and Social Services. order barring Dr. Macharia from leading the TSC any longer.
