TSC Chairman: 50,000 Teachers Will Receive Promotions By December.

On October 5, 2022, at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, during World Teachers Day celebrations, Teachers Service Commissioner (TSC) Chairman Jamleck Muturi gives a speech.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has stated that 50,000 teachers will receive promotions by the end of the year.

According to TSC Chairman Dr. Jamleck Muturi, 50,000 interns have already been hired this year after receiving Ksh1 billion. The hiring process began in March and will be completed in November.

After meeting with stakeholders in the education sector at St. Teresa Girls Secondary School in Kisumu, he addressed the media and stated that some of the issues that emerged from the meeting included a lack of staff, mental health difficulties, and staff discipline.

The Commission Chairperson gave them assurance that the Commission would dedicate itself to addressing the issues they identified.

He claimed that resolving the issues will guarantee that kids obtain a quality education since a happy teacher is better able to address students’ requirements.

Dr. Muturi acknowledged that there was a general scarcity of teachers across the counties and stated that efforts to fill the gap have already been put in place and will be implemented in due course.

The TSC boss stated that they have already developed wellness facilities and rehabs for affected workers in regards to mental health.

He continued by saying that some of the affected employees had received paid leave.

Other attendees included the Chairman of Kenya Secondary School Heads (KESSHA) Kisumu, George Opiyo, the Executive Secretary of the KNUT Kisumu branch, Gordon Olando, and the Chairman of KEPSHA Kisumu.

Kennedy Oguta of Bishop Abiero Secondary School and Duncan Owiyo of Kisumu Boys School were in attendance.
