TSC PROMOTION GUIDE FOR B5 TO C1, C1 TO C2, AND C2 TO C3 SEPTEMBER 2023
TSC moves B5 up to C1. Following the signing of the Sh 54 billion Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2017–2025 with the three teachers unions, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) rapidly altered the grading system for elementary and secondary school teachers.
The Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) were used by TSC to grade and advance instructors to various grades. The Commission claims that CPGs are particular modalities that let it carry out CBAs.
TEACHERS GRADE B5 TO C1 ARE PROMOTED
The only grade recognized by teachers in basic schools is B5.
The T-Scale 5 admittance grade for all primary school teachers is Grade B5, also known as Primary Teacher II.
All recently hired teachers fall under this group. The brand-new elementary school instructor will start in the employment group B5.
A teacher in Grade B5 will automatically advance to Grade C1 after three years.
CPG states that no more coursework or interviews are necessary for teachers to advance from B5 to C1.
One only needs to spend three years in B5 in order to be automatically transferred to C1.
GRADE C1 TO C2 TEACHER PROMOTION
A primary school teacher who has taught in Grade B5 for three years is automatically promoted to Grade C1.
Primary teachers in Grade C1 are categorized as T-Scale 6 and are also known as Primary Teachers I.
There is no automatic promotion for primary school teachers from Grade C1 to C2. TSC B5 to C1 advancement
In actuality, Senior Teacher I is the Senior Teacher assigned to Grade C2 in the elementary school system.
Teachers in primary schools are promoted to C2. Additionally, it is a step up the administrative ladder. This grade has a competitive entry process and a small number of openings.
A primary school teacher who wants to advance from Grade C1 to Grade C2 must submit an online application when TSC releases a job listing.
He or she must also possess the necessary credentials, which include a Diploma, and have worked in Grade C1 for at least three years.
At promotion interviews, teachers in C1, ASAL, and hard-to-staff locations who have received letters to act are frequently confirmed and promoted on the basis of affirmative action.
In high school, diploma instructors start with Grade C1. Teachers in this grade are automatically hired if they have a secondary education degree.
After three years of employment, Grade C1 instructors with a secondary school graduation will automatically promote to Grade C2.
Please remember that affirmative action is used to promote all instructors in ASAL and difficult to staff areas.
GRADE C2 TO C3 TEACHER PROMOTION
Additionally, it falls under the administrative cadre’s entry-level category.
Entry into this grade is not automatic; rather, it is competitive and contingent on openings.
One must have at least three years of experience as a Primary Teacher I in T-Scale 6 before being appointed to this grade. Following at least three years of teaching and successful promotion interviews,
TSC B5 to C1 advancement Promotion to Senior Teachers I in grade C3 is possible for Senior Teachers II in grade C2.
In secondary schools, grade C2 is also the entrance requirement for graduate teachers.
All secondary school instructors with a bachelor’s degree are hired by TSC and assigned to this grade. Here is a breakdown of the salaries and benefits offered to teachers in Grades B5, C1, C2, and C3.
