TSC will issue 1,000 letters of employment to teachers.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will send employment and posting letters to about 1,000 primary school teachers this month.

With intentions to soon announce openings for both elementary and high school teachers, TSC publicized recruitment roles for educators interested in joining the Commission in September 2023.

TSC has specified various requirements for people to be taken into consideration for employment as intern teachers:

a) Must be a Kenyan citizen;

b) Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission;

c) For primary school positions, candidates should hold a P1 Certificate, while secondary school positions require a minimum of a Diploma in Education Certificate;

d) Must possess original academic and professional certificates;

e) Should not have previously been employed by the Commission on permanent terms;

f) Must not have participated in the TSC teacher internship program before;

g) Should be willing to be assigned to any public educational institution in Kenya;

h) Must have Personal Accident Insurance to cover personal risks during the internship period.

In addition to these requirements, successful applicants are expected to provide the following documents:

a) A copy of their National Identity Card (ID) or Passport Certificate;

b) A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate or print-out from the TSC portal confirming teacher registration;

c) A copy of the NCPWD card (if applicable);

d) A valid Certificate of Good Conduct;

e) Two (2) colored passport-size photographs;

f) A copy of the NHIF card;

g) A copy of the KRA PIN.

TSC has specified that intern instructors will serve for a duration of twelve months with no possibility of an extension.

Furthermore, TSC announced that interns assigned to elementary and secondary schools will receive a monthly stipend of Kshs. 15,000 and Kshs. 20,000, respectively.

Additionally, TSC extended the internship duration for 4,005 teachers across various counties in Kenya, with allocations as follows:
